Article analytics

Article analytics lets you view and compare the performance of the articles published on your portal.
To access these, open the User Menu from your profile picture, and click the Analytics entry.

The article analytics page can be broken down into three main sections:
  1. Summary Cards - provides you a summary of the performance of all articles
  2. Time Graph - lets you view the performance of articles day by day
  3. Detail Table - gives you the detailed performance by article

Summary Cards

The summary cards section is made up of 6 cards:
  1. Views - the total views across all articles
  2. Reach - the number of users who were reached by the content. This is the number of users who viewed at least one article.
  3. Unique Views - the sum of reach across all articles
  4. Likes - the number of likes given on the articles
  5. Comments - the number of comments published on the articles
  6. Articles published - the number of articles published

How to interpret the summary cards

Views - views indicate the overall engagement users have with the content on Diggspace. The more views, the more your users are reading and accessing the content on the portal.
Reach - this indicates how many users are being reached through the portal's content. Ideally, you want this to be as close as possible to the total users you have, but the realistic number may vary depending on your audience and organization type.
Unique Views - the unique views by themselves may not prove very useful, but comparing them to the total views or the reach can give you some insights into how your audience is consuming the content.
      Repeat ratio = Views / Unique Views - If the number of unique views is very close to the total views, this means that your users are generally only opening each content once. If the number of total views is higher than the unique views, it means that users are coming back to the content. The target here will depend on the type of content you are publishing. News and company updates are likely to generate less repeat views than content that is used during day to day work. 
      Average articles viewed = Unique Views / Reach - by comparing the unique views with the reach, you can get an average of how many different articles your users have read during the time period.

Time Graph

The Time Graph lets you view the Views, Reach, Likes, and Comments over time, on a daily basis. This can help you identify when your users are most active and more likely to engage with your portal's content. You can use this to inform the best days to post.

Idea
To isolate specific metrics on the graph, you can click the legend to remove or add them from the graph.

Detail Table

On the Detail Table, you are able to compare how each article is driving engagement within your organization.

For each article, you will be able to view:
  1. The article title
  2. The channel where the article was posted
  3. The publishing date
  4. The author
  5. The views
  6. The reach
  7. The likes
  8. The comments
The four metrics refer to the time period selected at the top of the page.
All columns are sortable except the author.

Exporting the detail table

You can export the information in the detail table, which generates an Excel spreadsheet with all the information presented on the table.
This will let you create your own reports and analysis on top of this information.
The columns for the exported Excel spreadsheet are:
  1. ContentId
  2. Title
  3. Content Url
  4. ChannelId
  5. ChannelName
  6. PublishDate
  7. AuthorId
  8. AuthorName
  9. Views
  10. Reach
  11. Reactions
  12. Comments

Filtering

The data displayed in these sections is all affected by the filters you apply at the top of the page. There are four filters that you can choose from:
  1. Time interval - this will filter all the data to only include the interactions that have happened during the time interval chosen.
  2. Filter by publish date - this will only display data for the articles published within the specified time interval.
  3. Filters button - this opens up a side menu with two options.
    1. Channels - only includes data for articles published in one of the selected channels.
    2. Authors - only includes data for articles published by one of the selected authors.
    3. These options are exclusive, so only articles matching both the articles and the authors filter will be displayed.
